My name is Bridget Wulle, I am currently a junior at Hanover College and one of the new employees at Lanthier Winery. I have been working at Lanthier Winery for a little over four months now and I am enjoying every day Over the short amount of time I have worked, I have learned all kinds of new skills from; how to work behind the tasting counter in the cellar tasting room and do wine tastings, to how to make trenches in the garden, and now, how to write a blog. The most important thing I have learned so far though is… the dog’s name is Khaleesi and she is almost three years old. Also, never forget to show the three cats love and attention whenever possible, but only when they are feeling particularly sweet because occasionally they can be a bit testy.
Besides the animals, other important parts of the job include; dusting everywhere and everything, vacuuming the one and only carpet in the building, making sure everyone knows to watch their step when entering the building and Clorox wipes and zip ties ( Check out more uses for zip ties) have way more uses than one person could ever imagine.
One thing I am very thankful for all of the opportunities I have because of working here at Lanthier Winery. I am fortunate enough to be a full time student and also be able to have a job that works around my busy schedule and classwork. In such a short time working here I have been able to gain more real life experience than I would have gotten just being a student. I have gained real life experience and skills in communicating, sales, and marketing all in such a short amount of time. I have also been able to use the skills I have gained through my time at Hanover and apply them while working at Lanthier. I have been given the opportunity and the trust to try different things on my own and the freedom to take chances and be creative while working here that I would not have gotten working somewhere else.
There are many more things that I have learned while being here and I can only imagine how many more I will continue to learn and grow every new day.
