The River Life

Living in an apartment that is on main street has it’s ups and downs. I do not have a yard that I need to maintain, I am within walking distances of restaurants, shops, and when Madison has festivals I don’t have to go very far to enjoy them. Sometimes, if a band is playing on the river I can just sit and relax on my back deck while listening to live music for free. Having a short commute to work is always a plus!

On the downside, I get to lay awake every night listening to the drag racers burn rubber going down the street, on weekends I get to listen to the bar goers mumble nonsensical conversations as they stumble home. My favorite is not paying the cover charge to hear any bands that are playing that night at the bars.

Despite all the loud rustling of this small town, I would strongly recommend the river life. I have yet to meet a local who wasn’t kind and welcoming. It doesn’t matter if you know the person, everyone will smile and wave.

I am more than grateful for Madison welcoming me, I look forward to giving back to the community with events like Wonderland in the Park, Light Up Madison, restoring historic buildings and much more!
